Joliet Kicks on Route 66! Visit America's Main Street in the Joliet Area. Begin your trip at the Route 66 Welcome Center located in the lobby of the Joliet Area Historical Museum. This interactive exhibit provide many photo opportunities and is a must see as you begin your journey. The historic Rialto Square Theatre, built in 1926 and fashioned after the Palace of Versailles, is a spectacular work of art in itself as well as hosting many fine performers. Take in a Slammers baseball game at Silver Cross Field or try your luck at Harrah's Casino. Either way you will be a winner. North of downtown Joliet is the Route 66 Park home to the Rich and Creamy ice cream stand. Travel a little further and you will be at the historic Fitzpatrick House where you will learn about the building of the I&M Canal as well as take in a Route 66 kiosk complete with the theme song "Get Your Kicks On Route 66."
